Peer Review

Jurnal Pendidikan Ekonomi Indonesia (JPEI) was established as a national and international scholarly platform dedicated to advancing research in economic education, economics, management, accounting, and business. As the official academic journal closely affiliated with the Program Studi Pendidikan Ekonomi, Fakultas Pendidikan Ekonomi dan Bisnis (FPEB), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia and aligned with the intellectual mission of the Asosiasi Profesi Pendidik Ekonomi Indonesia (ASPROPENDO), JPEI aims to strengthen the scientific development of economic education as a discipline while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across related fields. The journal welcomes conceptual, empirical, and applied studies that contribute to learning innovation, pedagogical improvement, economic literacy, business and financial competencies, and broader socioeconomic development.

In accordance with international best practices in scholarly publishing, JPEI upholds high standards of research integrity, editorial transparency, and publication ethics. The journal adopts a double-blind peer-review system to ensure objective and impartial evaluation. Manuscripts deemed appropriate for review are assessed by at least two expert reviewers specializing in fields relevant to the submitted work—whether economic education, pedagogy, economics, management, accounting, or business.

The peer-review procedures of JPEI comply fully with the principles outlined in the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers. Reviewers are required to maintain confidentiality, disclose any potential conflicts of interest, deliver balanced and evidence-based evaluations, avoid using privileged information for personal advantage, and provide constructive feedback that supports the improvement of the manuscript. Timely review delivery is expected to facilitate an efficient editorial workflow.

The editorial decision—acceptance, revision, or rejection—is determined by the Editorial Board based on reviewer recommendations and the manuscript’s scholarly merit. An initial screening conducted by the editor assesses the manuscript’s suitability, methodological rigor, and alignment with the journal’s scope. Only manuscripts that pass this preliminary assessment proceed to peer review. In practice, each manuscript is reviewed by a minimum of three reviewers: one internal reviewer from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia and at least two external reviewers from institutions across Indonesia or abroad.

To maintain objectivity, no direct communication is permitted between authors and reviewers throughout the review process. Authors are informed of the final decision once evaluations have been consolidated and reviewed by the editorial team.

The overall peer-review workflow implemented by JPEI follows these sequential steps:

  1. Manuscript Submission by the author.
  2. Initial Evaluation by the journal manager and editors, including Turnitin-based plagiarism checking.
  3. Peer Review Process conducted by assigned reviewers.
  4. Editorial Decision—acceptance, revision, or rejection—based on reviewers’ comments.
  5. Manuscript Revision by the author.
  6. Resubmission of Revised Manuscript, following the same flow as initial submission.
  7. If revisions meet required standards, the editor issues an acceptance decision.
  8. Galley-proof preparation and publication.

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision by considering reviewer recommendations and the manuscript’s contribution to the development of economic education, economics, management, accounting, or business scholarship. Editorial decisions generally fall into four categories: acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. Revised manuscripts are reassessed to ensure that authors have sufficiently addressed reviewer concerns, and when needed, additional review rounds may be conducted. JPEI strives to provide a timely decision process—typically within 40–60 days—although this may vary depending on reviewer availability and manuscript complexity.

In fulfilling its mission, JPEI actively promotes interdisciplinary scholarship, strengthens collaboration with ASPROPENDO and national academic networks, and advances the visibility of Indonesian research in regional and global contexts. By maintaining strong ethical standards, rigorous editorial procedures, and inclusive academic engagement, JPEI contributes to shaping the future of economic education and related fields in Indonesia and internationally.
